Week 74

OLANCHITO!!!

Dearest Family and Friends,

so yeah I had changes. Now Im in the Olanchito Zone! Im here in a trio! My comps names are Elder Guzman and Elder Vasquez. Ive known Guzman since the first day of my mission! Hes always been one of my bestfriends in the mission. And I met Vasquez back in san juan, and he was a punk back then, so I was a little worried at the beginning but now I realized that he has changed a ton and is actually super cool so IM PUMPED! Were the zone leaders here in Olanchito and I have the biggest zone area wise in the mission. It takes like 3 hours to cross our zone in bus! haha and were in the end of the mission. Like 6 hours away from the mission office so lets pray I dont get sick in this area.... hahha but I love it out here!!!!!! OUR HOUSE IS SO NICE I HAVE RUNNING WATER ALL DAY!!!! The only crappy part about olanchito is that the power goes out everyday for at least 3 hours

Im pumped to see what I can do here. Guzman and Vasquez are a little burnt out and they dont have to many investigators, but I got good at that in my last area so Im pumped to see what I can do here in this area! Ya know, I was a little upset about opening up Santa Rita when they sent me out there but now Im so happy. I grew SO MUCH in those short 3 months. The rest of my mission is gonna be a breeze thanks to those 3 months.

And Im pumped to see what I can do to help out this zone! Elder Measles and Criddle always included me in all the zone planning for santa rita and they treated me like the 3rd ZL over there, and we had the zone up to the most sucessful zone in the mission, so Im gonna see if we can do that again here in Olanchito!

We have an awesome investigator here named Leo, hes in a wheelchair and is 19 years old. He asks awesome questions. It was cool because we were able to teach him how to be truly humble when we have problems in our lives by accepting the lords will and not being angry for the problems we have. And it was cool to teach him about the mysteries of god. Christ taught us not to give our pearls to the swine, or we shouldnt reveal Gods mysteries to those who cant understand. In reality, God wants us to understand his mysteries, to study profoundly, but we have to understand them by the spirit! Without him, we wont understand anything! And those treasures are ours to discover! I now understand why My Dad would never open up that treasure chest of a brain and lay some sweet doctrine on me, because its mine to discover! And its the same for all of you! GO AND READ! Read your scrips and all other doctrinal books! Study with the spirit and you will discover those hidden treasures! Those hidden treasure cannot be the base of our testimony, the base has to be the atonement and knowing this is the true church, but those mysteries we discover are what really grow our testimony!!!! I LOVE THE GOSPEL!!!

Well. I love you all!

Week 73

Well, my last week in Santa Rita

Dearest Family and Friends,

So this has been my last week here in santa rita! President is closing down areas and so my area is getting cut. Ive loved it here! I dont wanna leave the great investigators we have here but I feel comfortable leaving them in elder measles hands. He'll get the work done.

Ive absolutely loved this area! in this area in only 3 months ive grown the most in my mission! In this area is where ive learned to really work hard! We didnt have not one baptism but in reality Im not disappointed one bit with my work here! I know Ive planted many seeds that those future elders will be able to reap!

Funny story. Theres a grand myth here in Honduras called bad eye. They believe here that a baby can get sick by a very misterious cause. If you look at a baby, and you have "strong vision" but you dont carry the baby, itll get deathly ill. The only way to save the baby is if the person who looked at him comes back to your house sweaty as can be, takes off his or her sweaty shirt and covers the baby and holds it in the sweaty shirt. RIDICULOUS! haha but if you dont know who looked at the baby.... then youre in for trouble. youve gotta make some concoxion with tobacco alcohol spices and a hen's egg. Its ridiculous hahahaha I love honduras.

Well. IM PUMPED TO SEE WHERE I GO ON WEDNESDAY!!! love you all!

Week 72

2 Great Weeks

Dearest Family and Friends,

HOWDY!

Sorry I didnt write last week. The internet went out. Gay.

But whatever because this week was so dang fast. I was gonna write you all and tell you about how last week was the best week of my mission... SIKE! this week was definitely the best week of my mission. Last week we taught 35 lessons and had 21 news, this week less news, 16 but more lessons, 36, and now we have 18 people progressing. Im loving the mission right now and time is flying! Were giving it all weve got. But I wanna give more!

I dont have many stories. Just one.

We found this couple, Mary and Joseph, (and they have a son named Jesus its super ironic I love it) Theyre an elderly couple. Maybe 60 years old. THEYRE SO DANG SMART!!! They go to an evangelic church, but they didnt give us any of that crap of "we already go to a church" they listened attently and asked so many questions during the first lesson. Ive never taught the restauration with that many details in my life. When Joseph read us a few verses from the book of mormon, he was on the verge of tears!!! Ive NEVER felt the spirit so strong in a lesson in my whole life. Easily accepted a baptismal date for the 8th of august. We went back to see them yesterday, and you can tell someone had come to their house to talk smack about the church, because they didnt seem too excited to see us. But whatever, Ive come to see that as missionaries we do a lot of condemning hahaha but it doesnt bother me. I just felt great to know that God trusts us enough to testify of our words as strong as he did. So it was a huge testimony builder for me. We'll have to see this week whats good with them.

Well. I love you all!

Always,
Elder Hodson
